Shagun Bindlish, MD, board member of the American Diabetes Association, details available options for treating venous disease in patients with obesity.
Individuals with obesity face an increased risk for thrombosis and cardiovascular diseases, so it is imperative that clinicians have the correct tools to assess and manage patients with obesity and venous disease. This was the topic of a recent clinical practice statement published in the December 2023 issue of Obesity Pillars, a new journal from the Obesity Medicine Association (OMA).
Patient Care Online recently sat down with first author of the clinical practice statement, Shagun Bindlish, MD, to discuss it in more detail. In the video below, Bindlish discusses available treatment options for lymphatic and venous complications in patients with obesity and shares how primary care clinicians can utilize the clinical practice statement when treating patients.
