President of the Alabama Obesity Society, Dr Jonathan Parker, provides an in-depth overview of the association between obesity and hypertension.

While the relationship on the contribution of obesity to hypertension is clear, "the relationship of how hypertension contributes to obesity is a little bit more difficult," said Jonathan Parker, DO, MS, a family and obesity medicine physician at Avalon Medical Group in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, in an interview with Patient Care Online.
