A potassium hydroxide examination of the left axilla demonstrated hyphae typical of Candida. Intertriginous surfaces aggravated by heat and friction are opportune sites for candidal infection.
Robert P. Blereau, MD of Morgan City, La, always considers diabetes mellitus in patients who present with candidiasis. This patient's plasma glucose level was normal. The candidiasis was treated with miconazole cream and promptly resolved.
