Nearly 4,000 obstetrician–gynecologists, trainees, and allied professionals are convening in Minneapolis May 16 to May 18 for the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists’ (ACOG) 2025 Annual Clinical & Scientific Meeting, a three-day program designed to address the clinical, scientific, and practice-management pressures facing the specialty.
“As ob-gyns, we have a shared purpose: the drive that inspires us to be there for our patients in every way possible—as health care experts, as trusted caregivers, as advocates,” said Stella Dantas, MD, FACOG, president of ACOG. “Our goal for this ACSM is to provide each and every attendee with tools to learn and develop in the areas in which they apply their purpose to their professional lives. ACOG members from across clinical areas of focus, located all over the country, and at all stages of their careers will find programming that will be tailor made for their interests and their growth as ob-gyns.”
Dr Dantas will open the meeting with the President’s Panel, “Well-Being and the Importance of Community, Belonging, and Connection,” featuring wellness leaders Laurie Cullen Gregg, MD, FACOG; Helen Kang Morgan, MD, FACOG; and Enid Yvette Rivera-Chiauzzi, MD, FACOG. The discussion will explore resilience strategies amid rising clinical complexity, workforce shortages, and practice burnout in obstetrics and gynecology.
Program planners expect a broad curriculum that spans tailored prenatal care, access to reproductive services, obesity, menopause, obstetric emergencies, medical misinformation, and preventable maternal mortality. Nearly 300 e-posters, hands-on surgical tutorials, and a career fair round out the agenda.
“In preparing for this year’s ACSM, we looked closely at the evolving needs of the ob-gyns and allied health professionals among our membership and put together a program responsive to those needs,” said Sandra E. Brooks, MD, MBA, FACOG, CEO of ACOG. “Our attendees will have the opportunity to develop new skills and hear about emerging scientific topics in service of preparing them to meet the needs of their patients and communities. The abundant networking opportunities foster professional development crucial to forging a satisfying and sustainable career.”
Keynote speaker Sharon Malone, MD, FACOG, New York Times best-selling author of Grown Woman Talk and chief medical advisor at Alloy Women’s Health, will deliver “Purpose in Partnership: Empowering Patient and Physician Voices in Obstetrics and Gynecology.” Dr Malone is certified by the North American Menopause Society and will discuss strategies for clinicians to advocate for patients while equipping patients to advocate for themselves.
